POSH WEDDING DISCOS – MUSIC TERMS OF SERVICE
Please share your favourite songs to us for your wedding celebration. We require no more than 50 tracks maximum to create an evening with your favourite songs. We will add these to our top UK wedding tracks that are proven favourites covering many genres, so there will be the best music for everybody.
If you prefer to only choose your first dance song and then let us choose the main evening songs for you, then we are more than happy to do this.
As your wedding DJ, we provide wedding discos on a weekly basis and are experienced in the different type of music and wedding guest dynamics.
Please carefully read the advice below on tips to creating an enjoyable night full of your favourite music tracks.
GENERAL TIPS WHEN YOU CREATE YOUR PLAYLISTS
There is a correlation between how much the bride and groom enjoy dancing as well as keeping a dance floor full because your family will join you, and then subsequently their friends will join them so, there is also a responsibility for guests in creating a party atmosphere.
Dance floors ebb and flow, particularly after the first dance during the warm summer months and then during buffet time, so it is quite normal for people to enjoy the party without there being a constant full dance floor. Dancefloors are definitely more active once the sun has set, and the drinks have arrived.
Each group of people will have their own dance dynamic. We have seen groups that absolutely love to dance to those at the other end of the spectrum. Most are somewhere in between.
Please let us know if you would like your wedding guests to have live song requestson the night. It's entirely up to you and very acceptable either way. If you choose to allow your wedding guests to have song request, then we will filter these song requests according to their appropriateness to the songs we are playing and the time of night. We will aim to keep everyone happy and insert their songs as much as we are able without compromising the flow of the music.
Remember, if your chosen playlists songs are too niche or alternative, then they will not necessarily keep your dance floor full. Think in general radio songs that people have grown up listening to. Sharing songs to us with a bpm, ideally over 110bpm, to get your guests dancing. Anything less can be considered as background music and not danceable, unless of course it is a great song.
HOW TO SHARE YOUR SONGS TO US USING SPOTIFY OR APPLE MUSIC
We recommend you share at least 3 'separate' playlists so I can easily identify important songs AND the correct version of the song you prefer. Please rename your playlists before you share so that I can easily identify my side, and I will know who it is for, what song it is and when it is to be played!
i.e. 'Alice & Jacob - First Dance'
OTHER POTENTIAL PLAYLISTS
The best (and by far easiest) way to share your celebration songs with us is by using Spotify. We also recommend Apple Music. These are very popular music platforms that most people have. Simply create your playlist in here and then share to us via WhatsApp or email. Once you have created your playlist, there will be 3 dots at the top right hand corner, by clicking this you will be able to share to us giving various messaging options.
KEY POINTS ON SPOTIFY AND APPLE MUSIC SHARING
The beauty of using Spotify is that you can continue editing your playlist after the link has been shared with us.
If you don't have Spotify, you can create an account for FREE. (Highly recommended). It will take a short time only to get used to the platform but will make your task easier and quicker in the long run.
Please also feel free to share songs or genre you would prefer us to play as well as songs and genres you would prefer us not to play.
DJ ARTISTIC LICENSE
Choosing songs for a large crowd is always going to be a contentious subject in which every single person will have their own unique opinion on what exactly is a good song. As you DJ we provide wedding discos on a weekly basis. We reserve the right to respond to the dancefloor and choose songs that facilitate the general enjoyment of all your friends and family in the best way that we see fit.
Any particular tracks or genres you do not wish to hear, then these must be communicated to us beforehand. I will not jump around music tracks and the mini sets I have created on the night that I have made with the information I have been given by clients.
DISCLAIMER
We will require your music playlists NO LATER THAN 2 WEEKS to allow sufficient time for me to obtain these tracks. Sometimes we will need to buy these at an extra cost. We will then need to download and arrange these in our DJ software Rekordbox creating mini sets based on genre and taking any other information that you have given me such as key events/timings into consideration. Sometimes we might add a few songs to create mini sets to support a random or odd genre you have given. The pre arrangement process of playlists and songs is a considerable and thoughtful task that is not taken lightly. We weigh up everything you have told us and this takes at least 4-5 hours.
Many couples book us many months/ and sometimes years in advance, giving ample time to collect your favourite songs for your evening and then share these songs to us.
Please note that if you share your playlists to me after this cut-off date of two weeks then I may not be able to include your songs due my schedule especially around the busy wedding season. Failure to provide your songs will mean that I subsequently play the UK top wedding songs and your chosen song for your first dance song.
